Our Law Firm Represents Good People who may have Made Mistakes With a Personal Approach; Mitigate & Litigate

Mitigate - to make less severe, serious, or painful; (mitigating) (of a fact or circumstance) lessening the gravity or culpability of an action.*

When good people find themselves in tough situations as a result of mistakes they have made, or as a result of false accusations, minimizing (or mitigating) the penalties they face is the most important thing an attorney can do.

When you have been a defense attorney for over three decades - 30 years to be exact - you know just how to structure an argument and a case to put our client in the best light possible. You build relationships that allow us to work more efficiently and more effectively for our clients.

We represent people because we believe in them. We believe that they are good people who have made mistakes and find themselves in bad situations. They need help to minimize the penalties they face and they need someone to present them to the prosecution or the court as the good people they are. That is why we have dedicated my practice to working with individuals who have been charged with:

  • Internet and sex crimes - including non-sexual Internet crimes, such as illegal downloads
  • Solicitation, patronizing and indecent exposure - including lewd and lascivious conduct
  • DUI, DWI and traffic violations - including hit and run cases
  • White collar crimes and embezzlement

Whatever you are being charged with - chances are good that I've helped someone in exactly your shoes before. I will draw on this experience, as well as the facts of your specific situation, to help the authorities see you as a good person so we can minimize the punishment you may face.

Unique & Flexible Solutions

Together, we will present the authorities (including the police, prosecutor and the court) with a solid base from which to give you the break we are looking for. Because I believe in mitigation, not litigation, I am able to show the prosecutor's office that you deserve a second chance, giving them good reasons to give you the break you need. No matter how much mitigating evidence we provide, sometimes prosecutors' offers are simply too harsh or nonexistent. In those situations, or when you are innocent, we team with many experienced litigators who can take your case to trial and fight to protect your rights. Because we do not battle the prosecutors every day and create the bad feelings that go with those battles, we are in a great position to negotiate on your behalf to minimize the penalties you may face.

Serving Clients In Both Hancock and Washington County Maine

From my Ellsworth office, I am ideally situated to serve clients in both Hancock and Washington Counties. I am familiar with the laws of both and can help you navigate this difficult area.

Though my primary duty is that of a lawyer, I approach every case with the full intent to help my client as much as possible. That means dedicating myself to shaping how the prosecutor sees your case and achieving a positive result - but it also means that, if you have an underlying cause for your legal situation (i.e. physical, emotional or psychological), I have an excellent team of independent care providers that can help. These care providers will also make for excellent experts to testify at trial or sentencing should we have to take your case to trial, or if we have to convince a judge to accept your plea bargain.

No case is one-dimensional and I will help you as much as I possibly can.

Contact me toll free at 207-667-0483. We will talk about your situation and how I can help you frame your case and mitigate the penalties. You can also reach me through the Web site.
